- The plants in my yard are a testament to hope, faith and perseverance. The once green Jerusalem Artichoke stalks stand tall and brown; old soldiers guarding the new life straining through winters debris. Small green triangles appear effortlessly as the descendants who came before them lay in pale brown ribbons, evidence of last years glory. Brave crocuses appear first waving their colors in the wind, they are the flag carriers, the buglers, the brave ones; risking frost and eager rakes. Their pretty purples, yellows and whites usher in all the promise of nature’s victory.
